It was an average Sunday at the Johnson household. 17-year-old Jessica was lounging on the couch in the living room, flipping through channels. Her younger brother Tommy, 14, was sprawled out on the carpet playing with his action figures. "Get out of my room, you little twerp!" Jessica snapped irritably as Tommy waltzed into her room. She was sorry she had ever let him in, now he was definitely going to steal the shrink ray she had been building in secret. The cocky little brat knew he was irresistible to women, and he was going to get it one day. She had to eliminate him. "Aw come on, Jess!" Tommy whined. "I just wanted to hang out. Here, I brought you a present!" He thrust out a small object - a bag of Reese's Pieces, Jessica's favorite candy. She snatched them from his hand. "Get lost." "Whatever, you stupid cunt." Tommy muttered under his breath and stomped out. Jessica fumed. Who did he think he was, anyway? She could get rid of that pest easily. She had a shrink ray. She retrieved it from her closet and took it to the living room. Tommy was sitting there, flipping channels. Jessica snuck up behind him and zapped him with the ray. "YAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" He screamed as he felt himself shrinking down to the size of a spider. "WHAAAATTT?! JESSICAAA!" His voice grew squeakier and higher as he shrunk smaller and smaller. "Squeak squeak squeak!" Tommy's tiny screams reached Jessica's ears as he shrank all the way down to the size of an ant. She could barely hear him now. His Spider-Man action figures loomed over him like skyscrapers. She smiled evilly. "That'll teach you to disrespect me, twerp." Just then, they heard the front door open. "Girls? I'm home!" It was their mother, Vanessa. Jessica panicked. She had to hide Tommy before Mom saw him. She quickly scooped up his tiny body and dropped him on the carpet. Vanessa strode into the living room, her heels clicking on the tile. "Girls? Where are you?" She called. She didn't notice the tiny speck of her son on the carpet. "Oooh, Mommy! I'm in here!" Jessica called. Vanessa walked into the living room, heading straight for Jessica. "There you are, sweetie! Mwah!" She bent down to kiss her daughter, stepping directly on the tiny Tommy with her high heel. "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEAK!!!" It was a sickening crunch as Vanessa's stiletto heel smashed Tommy into the carpet. He let out an agonized, miniscule shriek as the life was crushed out of him. Jessica winced. She hadn't meant to kill him, just shrink him down so she could torture him. Now he was dead. Vanessa straightened up, kissing Jessica on the cheek. "I missed you, baby." She didn't notice she had just stepped on her son. His flattened remains were lost in the carpet fibers. "Heh, miss you too Mommy." Jessica said, trying to keep her voice steady. Inside she was trembling, horrified at what had just happened. Tommy was dead! Her own flesh and blood, smashed to paste by her mother's shoe. Vanessa turned around and headed for the kitchen. "I'm gonna make lunch, honey. You want a sandwich?" "Uh, sure Mom. Turkey." Jessica said absentmindedly. As soon as Vanessa was gone, she dropped to her knees and brushed aside the carpet fibers. There were the remains of her brother - a tiny, crumpled shape, a few specs of blood. She felt a wave of nausea and looked away. It was an accident, she told herself. Vanessa hadn't meant to kill Tommy. She hadn't known he was there. Jessica had killed him. Her. She had shrunk him down and now he was dead. She knew she should feel guilty. Devastated. Something. But as she sat there staring at Tommy's body, all she felt was...satisfaction. A small, evil smile crept across her face. Tommy was a creep and a pervert. He had it coming. Now finally Jessica was the only child. Her parents would dote on her. Give her all their attention. She would get everything - the bedroom, the car, college tuition, the inheritance. All hers. Jessica looked down at the bloody smear that had been her brother and giggled. She shouldn't have, but she couldn't help it. Her sick, twisted mind swirled with glee at the thought of the advantages to come from Tommy's death. She would be showered with riches and praise. Finally she would get what she deserved. She licked her lips, tasting the salty sweetness of her evil deed. Tommy was gone and it was all hers now. Jessica smiled a wicked, malicious smile as she pictured her future. Her brother's death was just the beginning of her glorious new life as an only child. She was going to enjoy every minute of it.
