Halloween Craft O Lantern Art Lesson Art Project Writing Prompt Sub Plans
This Jack-O'-Lantern Craft and Write is a Halloween art and literacy lesson. Students follow a tutorial to make a jack-o'-lantern craft, then use the cut-and-paste design elements to add their own artist flavor so every pumpkin is unique.
After the craft, students write about it using fiction and non-fiction planning pages, prompts or blank writing pages, then finish with coloring, reflections and 3 Stars and a Wish. With adaptable templates and primary and intermediate writing pages, it works for Grades 1 to 5.

HOW TO USE IT
Start with the warm-up drawing challenge and the About the Theme reading. Show the step-by-step slides while students build their jack-o'-lanterns, choosing from the templates and design elements. Then guide them into writing with the planning and prompt pages, and wrap up with peer feedback and self-reflection.
The templates suit different skill levels, so you can run it as a quick activity or a more detailed project. It works well when you are short on art supplies or time.
