THE MARBLE WELL
Fifteen years ago, a fourteen-year-old girl disappeared from a judge's bungalow in Jabalpur.
Her family was told she had drowned.
No body was found.
No serious investigation followed.
The case was buried.
Fifteen years later, Justice Arvind Shrotriya is found dead inside his Civil Lines bungalow, his throat cut beside an empty marble pedestal. A steel chisel lies in the old well. The police have a convenient suspect, the judge's son has a powerful motive, and the evidence seems to point in one obvious direction.
But retired Army intelligence officer Vikram Singh sees something the police have missed.
The chisel is a lie.
The judge was preparing to confess.
And somewhere beneath the marble, the truth about the missing girl is still waiting.
As Vikram follows a trail from the judge's bungalow to the marble quarries of Bhedaghat and the banks of the Narmada, he discovers that the murder is connected to a fifteen-year-old land deal, a stolen black stone, compromised officials and a secret that powerful men believed would remain buried forever.
Then another man is murdered.
And someone begins trying to destroy the evidence.
In Jabalpur, the dead may be silent—but the river remembers.
