School schedule

Most schools follow a fairly standard weekly schedule with classes held Monday through Friday. The school day usually begins around 8:00am and ends around 3:00pm, though start and end times can vary.

The day is divided into several class periods, typically ranging from 6-8 periods. Each class period is 45 minutes to an hour long. Core academic subjects like math, science, English, and social studies are held daily.

There are also non-core classes rotated throughout the week, such as physical education, art, music, computer skills, etc. Students transition from one classroom to the next between each period, with a short break for passing time.

There is a designated lunch period in the middle of the day, lasting around 30-60 minutes. Some schools have an open lunch that allows students to leave campus, while others require students to remain on school grounds.

Many schools also build in a homeroom or advisory period, either at the start or end of the day, for administrative tasks and student support activities.

The schedule remains consistent from week to week, with the same classes meeting daily or on a repeating A/B blocked schedule. Extended breaks occur for holidays, summer vacation, and other pre-planned school closures.
