This is the full method behind every patch I make — layering the background, tracing onto dark fabric, cutting a clean circle, sewing the tiny bits.

Learn it once and you can build any patch you dream up. It's the seventh pattern in my patch series, and the most detailed one yet.

Before you start:

Pure scrap project — raid your bin. Mine's cut from a pair of thrifted kids' jeans. You'll want a package of Pellon Wonder Under 805, which is the magic that keeps the edges from fraying and lets the patch iron right onto your clothes. It's at most craft stores and I've linked my favorites inside.

No sewing machine? There's a no-sew option in the pattern.

Beginner friendly. If you can trace and iron, you've got this.
