Farmer John and Mrs. took awesome care of Herman. That is why he is called, 'Herman the Happy Horse." Until Farmer John added a new addition to the farm.

"Herman would run through the meadow,

just as free as can be.

His mane would blow in the wind,

And to his friends, he would say, “Hey, look at me!”

Herman was such a beautiful horse.

He loved to eat his hay and oats.

He had everything he could want.

A loving home with lots of cows and goats

That was the first two pages of the book. Anyway, the story goes, he was happy until Farmer brought "Mouthy Mare" onto the scene. Herman started hanging out with her, and little by little, Herman wasn't the Happy Horse anymore, but Herman the sad horse. The more he listened to her bragging about all of her travels, Herman became discontent with his home on the farm. He was depressed, and every one of his farm friends knew it. He moped around and wouldn't even eat. Mealy Mouse had a plan to get Herman back to his happy self again. So, she gathered up all of Herman's friends to help Herman get better: Petunia Pig, Randy Rooster, Mother Hen, Gruffy Goat, Bell Bluebird, and Wise Mr. Owl. Mealy's plan didn't work, so they went and told Farmer John. He was the man with the plan! He took Herman on some adventures around the world. Purchase this book and see what happened to Herman on his travels. Your child will learn an awesome lesson at the end, just as Herman learned. Maybe you as well. You will be a happy camper as a parent when your child learns this lesson, Herman learned. Some adults need to learn this lesson, too.

Farmer John and Mrs.Farmer John are illustrations of my own Dad and Mom. My Dad's name was John Herman. They have passed on. This book is dedicated to them! Enjoy!
