A Front Porch Christmas Countdown

Make December about doing things together, not buying more things. This printable Advent countdown gives your family one simple, low-cost activity for every day from December 1 to Christmas Eve, plus a color-in calendar and a paper chain so the kids can see Christmas getting closer.

The 24 activity cards are ready to cut out: paper snowflakes on the windows, a drive to look at Christmas lights, cocoa on the porch, a flashlight story, pinecone bird feeders, a pajama dinner, popcorn garland, a card for a neighbor who lives alone, and a Christmas Eve reading to end it. Most take less than an hour and use things you already have. Each card has a "We did it!" box and a line for the favorite part.

Use the December planner to put quick activities on busy school nights and bigger ones on weekends, and swap in your own family traditions with the 8 blank cards. Tuck the cards in envelopes, drop them in a jar, or hang them on the tree. Finish with a memories page to keep for next year.
