Bardly and Elphyra escape disaster on Mermaid Island when the flamboyant leader of the luggage-stealing ring that not only swiped Princess Penelope's things, but those of one particular muse, is discovered. But that muse receives some new bad news of her own - her home is being assessed for massive fines out of nowhere by her homeowner's organization!

Determined to try to handle the situation on her own, Marigold nonetheless has no choice but to try to sell the house where her children grew up. Fortunately, newlyweds Bardly and Elphyra are flush with cash from appearing on Vex's show My Carrot-Sized Wife. And so the new, newly-wed stars of the multiverse offer to look at the home with idea to buy it from Marigold, and release her from her unwelcome obligation.

But there's a catch. The home is haunted, and an etched letterboard session with Marigold's homeowner's association turns into a stilted conversation with a demon speaking poor Jestorian. Soon, she starts receiving loads of anonymous messages by faerie courier about casino offers and more. And when Sir Cedric opens a message about claiming a demon prince's inheritance after his sudden boat crash on the River Styx, her house becomes completely locked up, along with another threatening message to pay up - or the house will be permanently haunted! And worse yet, the rest of the Jestorians peasants are finding the same news!

The Sisters of the Lace Stocking are willing to help, and a mortifying exorcism attempt on the home seems to be successful - the house is open. But The Sisters' help comes with a price - you can't just keep out demons with everyday cleaning products! Marigold doesn't want to keep buying a supply of Grue Butter Bannister Polish just to get her home back. And Bardly suspects something's fishy when the bill for it has the same address as the threat Marigold received earlier!

The home gets possessed again, and this time it looks like it's bad. But Bardly's got a plan. And that plan involves finding the demons responsible for this whole mess, and exposing them in their natural element - a homeowner's association meeting - to get them banished back to Hell!
