PVQ-028 Derailed Fence
Whether you make the quilt or the placemats, this is a great pattern for a beginner! I'll tell you how to check your seam allowance, because if your seam allowance isn't accurate, your books won't be square, and that will give you problems when you start to twist and turn your blocks. It's all straight seams and strip piecing, no specialty rulers needed.
And talk about twisting and turning blocks--there are so many different looks you can achieve by simply playing around with the blocks! I give you a few examples of the different layouts, but there isn't room for all the ways you can arrange the blocks!
One of my testers was able to make 2 placemats for the fabric left from the quilt.
Adding a border to the twin size will make a queen size quilt. The border strips are cut length of fabric, so no seaming necessary!
The cover quilt is made with the Earthly Stories collection by Island Batik.
