Masala is an asymmetric triangular shawl. It is worked in the shape of an arrow from one corner to the long edge on the opposite side. The name Masala refers to a town in southern Finland, as well as to an Asian spice mixture that gave the name for the multicolored yarn used in the model shawl. The arrow shape makes the shawl great for stripes of different colors.

Finished size: longest side of the triangle is around 260 cm (102 in), depth is 60 cm (23.5 in)

Yarn:
Fingering weight. I recommend lighter than regular fingering weight yarn, for example:
Handmaiden Fine Yarn Mini Maiden 499 m/546 yd per 100 g
Adriafil Avantgarde 450 m/492 yd per 100 g

Yardage:
In the model shawl shown in the photos, the multicolored is color A (Mini Maiden, colorway Masala) and the white is color B (Avantgarde).
Color A: 540 m/590 yd or 120 g (if using Mini Maiden, a single skein of 100 g will be enough)
Color B: 630 m/690 yd or 140 g

Note: If are using a regular fingering weight yarn that has for example 400 m/437 yd per 100 g, you will need more yarn than specified above.

Needle size: 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needle at least 80 cm (32 in) long, or the size you need to get a soft fabric which you like and which drapes well.

Gauge: 17 sts and 40 rows per 10 cm (4 in) in garter stitch unblocked.

Other supplies: A stitch marker.
