Zesty Lapghan
I think we all have memories from our childhood that seem incidental to some but have great meaning to us. For me, packets of refresher sweets bring back a vivid memory of those little trips to the local sweet shop with my big sister, pennies clutched tightly in hand. I always reached for the green ones, while my sister claimed the pink. It made sharing easy—and special. These simple moments inspired my latest creation, the Zesty Lapghan, which is a true trip down memory lane, wrapped up in colour and comfort.
The Zesty Lapghan: A Blanket Full of Memories
This blanket is crafted predominantly in pinks and greens, with a splash of yellow for that authentic refresher sweet touch. Each colour is a nod to those cherished sweets, and the tulip motifs are a tribute to the flowers my sister and I would buy for our mum on Mother’s Day, right next door to the sweet shop. It’s amazing how a handmade piece can hold so much story and warmth within its stitches.
Crochet Tip: Weaving Memories Into Your Work
This lapghan is a great project to practice new stitches as it includes long wave stitch and tulip stitch and allows you to really get to grips with the stitches as they are used in panels across the blanket, a nice rhythmic bit of crochet allowing your mind to take its own trip down memory lane.
