This baby wearing blanket is an extra layer to keep baby warm while in a carrier or sling. The stretchy fabric will easily accommodate a growing  or wriggling child.
The body is knit in super stretchy Fisherman’s ribbing, and the applied moss stitch button bands give structure.

The pattern includes guidelines for attaching the blanket to a buttoned coat, or attaching directly to the carrier using snap fasteners and i-cord loops. The sample is designed to fit the Beco Soleil soft structured carrier, and can easily be adapted to suit another carrier by repositioning the attaching loops.

When attached with buttons, it can easily be removed or replaced without disturbing baby (handy if you frequently use public transport in cooler weather).

It can also fasten directly on to the carrier itself, using a combination of grosgrain ribbon with snap fasteners and icord loops, and allowing you to use an additional winter layer or a raincover.

Size: 40 x 49 cm / 16 x 19.5 inches at given gauge.
Needle: 5mm for fisherman’s ribbing section, 4.5mm for moss stitch section, or sizes needed to achieve gauge.

Gauge: Fisherman’s ribbing average gauge: 14.5 stitches per 10cm / 4 inches using larger needles, after blocking.
Average gauge = (relaxed gauge + stretched gauge) divided by 2.

Moss stitch 19 stitches per 10 cm / 4 inches using smaller needles, after blocking.

Yarn: 350 metres of aran weight yarn.
The sample uses 4 balls of King Cole Merino Blend Aran (100% wool, 104 m per 50g) in shade 769.
