Lineal is a celebration of patterns created with lines; an exploration of how lines can be combined in different ways to create a beautiful and modern geometric design.
SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 7” / 17.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. To accommodate the wearer’s height, 25 rounds of main colour have been worked between each pair of stripes (instead of 20) and an extra 1” / 2.5cm of yoke depth has been worked before separating for body and sleeves.
CONSTRUCTION
This garment is worked top-down, in the round, with a modified raglan construction. Short row shaping is incorporated immediately after the neckband to lift the back of the neck and optimise the fit. A regular pattern of increases is worked to shape the raglan yoke and, at the same time, coloured stripes are worked at regular intervals. Once the yoke is completed, the stitches are separated into body and sleeves. Both the body and sleeves are worked in the round, continuing the regular pattern of coloured stripes before a section of stranded colourwork is worked above the waistband and cuffs.
SIZING GUIDE
This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 2-8” / 5-20 cm at the chest circumference.

GAUGE
Using 3.25 mm / US size 3 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 26 stitches over 32 rounds, both stockinette stitch and colourwork, blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.
Neckband, waistband and cuff circumferences assume you are working 7 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm.
YARN
The sample has been worked using Happy Go Knitty’s Mardi base (60% Superwash Merino / 20% Silk / 20% Yak; 366m / 400yds per 100g) in colourways In The Shadow as MC, English Mustard as CC1 and Driftwood as CC2.
