Bloodborne Pathogens
This Instructor-led course teaches students how to protect themselves from bloodborne pathogens and how to properly handle and react to blood in the workplace. This is an American Heart Association course and it meets the Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29CFR 1910.1030), published by OSHA.
Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens was designed specifically for workers with a reasonable chance of encountering bloodborne pathogens such as:
Childcare workers
Security guards
Maintenance workers
School personnel
Hotel housekeepers
Health and fitness club staff
Tattoo artists
Students learn how to:
- Protect themselves from blood or blood-containing materials.
- Act quickly and safely.
- Clean the area that has blood or blood-containing materials.
- Tell their supervisor about the incident
