Finding the Names — Installment 75 continues Roll 9 of the New Orleans inward slave manifests (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 9, NAID 173909088), images 361–480: 318 more entries (308 named, 10 unnamed) on 62 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records, most of them from the spring of 1843.

Inside: the U.S. Schooner Essex again — Captain Wolf, whose Cedar Keys letter appeared in Installment 72, now carrying an Army doctor's household of six out of Tampa Bay. The Parthian twice in two days under one master: 44 people from Richmond (Robert Lumpkin among the shippers' principals) and 48 from Petersburg, her numbering never counting Mary Elizabeth's child. Dan of the schooner Van Buren, whose identical description arrives in March and sails out again in April. Rosa of the Badger, her whole line struck through — "(absconded before the vessel sailed)." The brig Ajax's Davis group under full two-part names. And the ship Pioneer's certificate, saying "Three" over a table of two, closing the question the last installment opened.
