Strategy for Change: Critical Thinking Skills to Succeed

“Demonstrations for change of governments in Africa, are meaningless, if the demonstrators have no alternative game-changing blueprints to hold new governments strictly in adherence to the available alternatives”. I have observed for decades, how demonstrators especially young people in Africa, struggled for change and the change subsequently brought no new significant strategies or approaches to development. Research papers addressing public policy game-changing alternatives about finance and economics are presented.

A multitude of diverse but arduous developmental challenges seem to have overwhelmed many leaders in the African continent. Education is the foremost critical developmental challenge because it is a country’s curriculum that even determines how its workforce will compete in the current global job market. Critical thinking is a prerequisite to entrepreneurship development and growth necessary for vibrant economic growth. Unfortunately, systemic weaknesses in the national entrepreneurship support programs are prominent due to slow progress and high failure rate among SMEs. The next time you want to call for change of government, be clear in your mind; are you demanding more investment in irrigation infrastructure and processing industries, digital infrastructure, transport, energy, curriculum overhaul and or enhanced manufacturing etc. Facilitated by think-tanks or NGOs, citizens must write their own manifestos to serve as a yardstick for manifestos of political parties.
