The Autumn Spirit Socks are a little spooky and a lot of fun. Choose from bats and ravens to create the perfect autumn vibes! These top-down socks include ankle- and calf-length options, and lots of details: a striped cuffs and toes, contrast heel turn, and stranded colorwork. Samples are shown in Size 1 (Bats version) and Size 2 (Ravens version) in Green Letter Day Sock (473 yds [430 m] / 100 grams; 75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon). The Bats version used the colors Shadow Hunter (yarn A), Phantom of the Opera (yarn B), Megara (yarn C), and Circe (yarn D). The Ravens version used the same colors, but yarns C and D are reversed. Both versions are knit with yarn A held as the dominant yarn throughout the colorwork section.


Note: Yarn estimates are based on a sock foot length of 9” / 23 cm. You may need more or less yarn depending on foot length.


For the best fit, knit socks ½” / 1 cm shorter than actual foot length.


GAUGE

34 sts / 40 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette and colorwork chart, after blocking


NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

US Size 1 (2.25 mm) knitting needles (OR size needed to achieve gauge) suitable for working small circumferences in the round (e.g., small circular needle and DPNs, long circular needle for magic loop, OR two circular needles)


Note: Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. You may need to go up a needle size to achieve gauge for the colorwork section.


Stitch markers (3, including one unique marker for beginning of round marker), scrap yarn, tapestry needle
