Malia is a domestic machine friendly bag that gives you a unique and elegant and versatile design without requiring a massive sewing experience. It is not complicated and does not take a long time to make. You can make it as a crossbody, shoulder bag or both.

Pattern Features:

·        Dimensions: TOP W12”/ BOTTOM W11” x H9” x D4”

·        This pattern uses Imperial measurements.

·        This bag requires little hardware and little to none interfacing/stabilizer.

·        The magnetic snap closure has been designed to make your belongings accessible, but not out in the open for all to see.

·        Malia can be made as a shoulder bag, a crossbody bag or both – the choice is yours.

·        There is 1x zipper a 1x slip pocket inside.

·        This bag has been designed with a confident beginner bag maker in mind, the construction is not difficult, but it includes plenty of top stitching and attention to detail.

·        This pattern is dedicated to sewing using faux leather/ cork or vinyl for the exterior and Medium-weight Waterproof Canvas for the interior (around 190 g/m2).

·        If you like a reinforced and firm bag bottom, use a 3.5” x 11” piece of pellon peltex / fuse and shape or decovil heavy to stabilize it.

REQUIRED FABRIC, TOOLS AND NOTIONS:

Bag Hardware:

• 2x magnetic snaps (around 10-12 mm)
• 10" long zipper #5 with the pull attached

ADDITIONAL (If making a crossbody strap)

• 2x ¾” D-rings
• 6x medium rivets
• 2x 3/4" strap ends
• 1x 3/4" strap adjuster/ slider
• 2x 3/4" swivel clasps

(You may opt out of using swivel clasps, but then you must use rectangular D-rings)

Fabric:

Exterior – use Faux Leather/ Cork or Vinyl

1 roll 20" x 58"

Or 1 roll 18"x58" exterior and 1 roll 12"x 58" accent

Interior - use Waterproof Canvas (medium weight)

1 roll 18x58"

If you want to use other fabric, you might need to interface it.
