What will we do in class?
- Talk about the story. We’ll make predictions, discuss the characters’ choices, and find clues in the book that help us explain our ideas.
- Explore how words work. We’ll look at base words, prefixes, and suffixes and see how word parts can help us figure out unfamiliar words.
- Respond through drawing and short writing. Children will have different ways to show their thinking, including talking through an idea before putting it on paper.
- Try three hands-on STEM challenges. We’ll use the story as inspiration to design, build, and test our ideas.
Is this a good fit for my child?
This class is a good fit for children who enjoy an adventure story and are ready to talk about what happens in a chapter book. Your child can read the assigned chapters independently or enjoy them as a read-aloud with you. Children can share their thinking through conversation, drawing, and short written responses.
What will we need?
You’ll need a copy of Christmas in Camelot by Mary Pope Osborne. A library copy is welcome, or you can find the book on Amazon (Christmas in Camelot). As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
