Cheche Kuwa Moto (From a Spark to a Fire) is the second episode of an original musical fiction series created by Gavin How. Through six original compositions, it journeys to East Africa, exploring the ancient relationship between rhythm, voice, nature and human expression.

This is not simply an album—it is the next chapter in an expanding musical journey tracing the spirit of music across cultures, generations and time.

From the sound of stones striking together and the crackle of fire, to the voice of the flowing river, birdsong, singing wild dogs and the thunderous rhythm of the elephant, Cheche Kuwa Moto imagines a world in which music grows naturally from the sounds of the land and the people who inhabit it.

Blending African-inspired rhythms, voices and natural soundscapes with authentic orchestration and contemporary production, the six tracks form a continuous journey from the simplest spark of rhythm toward something shared, powerful and enduring.

A NOTE ON CULTURE AND STORYTELLING

Cheche Kuwa Moto is an original work of musical storytelling inspired by African musical traditions, rhythms, languages and cultural influences.

The Rock and Roll Rewind Project recognises that these traditions belong to diverse peoples and cultures with histories and lived experiences far deeper than can be represented within a single musical project.

The use of African and Swahili-inspired language, musical and spiritual ideas and storytelling within Cheche Kuwa Moto is intended as an acknowledgement and celebration of those cultural influences, not as an attempt to claim ownership of them or to speak on behalf of the people and communities from which they originate.

Through original music and storytelling, The Rock and Roll Rewind Project seeks to explore, acknowledge and celebrate the extraordinary cultural influences that have contributed to the continuing story of music.
