Industrial area Prison, is a holding place for both convicted and unconvicted Prisoners. However, the bulk of the inmates are the unconvicted or generally known as remandees. Currently holding an approximate of slightly above 4500 persons inmates. The real-life story of the Nairobi Remand and Allocation Maximum Prison (also known as Industrial Area Remand Prison) is primarily one of severe overcrowding, poor conditions, human rights concerns, and systemic challenges within the Kenyan justice system. Here I try to get deeper into the real life experience of the prisons life.
