The Doomsday Bug

         Dr. Jonas Allen had been with the Center for Disease Control almost 16 years.  He had been “in the trenches” most of his career.  He was in Zaire in 1997, his first year in the E.I.S., to investigate changes in monkey pox transmission during that outbreak.  He had assisted investigators at the World Health Organization during the Ebola outbreak in Uganda in late 2000.  He investigated outbreaks of West Nile virus in 2002, SARS in 2003, the H1N1 pandemic in 2009 and 2010, and he was on-site after the Haitian earthquake in 2010.  He had seen countless medical emergencies, anyone of which could have spelled disaster for humanity.  Each time mankind had dodged a bullet.  Nothing could have prepared him and his team for the nightmare that was about to unfold. 

          Deep in the infected minds of their victims, two organisms struggle for survival.  Caught in the middle, the unknowing victims are thrust into a violent psychosis they cannot escape nor can the uninfected around them.

          Jonas and his team race against time to identify the organisms causing this horrific rage pandemic.  Atlanta is under siege.  The C.D.C., now fortified, has become a refuge and perhaps, humanities last hope for survival and the solution Jonas and his team come up with may be more terrifying that the disease itself.
