G.F. Handel: Sonata in C, Op. 1 no. 7 (flute or recorder and guitar)

An arrangement originally made in 1991, much played since with many flute partners. Prompted firstly by falling in love with the piece (in which there is so much to love: the irresistible, yearning grace of the opening melody, the energy of the extended fugue which follows, the plangent Larghetto, lively Gavotte and robust finale), and secondly by the determination to provide realisation of the continuo part that would be rich, varied and rewarding for the guitarist.
