Izanami is the creation goddess of the Japanese religion, Shinto. Together with her partner Izanagi, they created the islands of Japan with saltwater that dropped from a spear. Knitting up the Izanami hat, you will be creating something of your very own, using a type of spear yourself - your knitting needles!

Izanami uses a Japanese stitch pattern (hence the inspiration behind the name) to combine lace and textured stitches with incredibly soft, bouncy DK wool. You should choose a yarn that has a high ply count in order to really help the textured stitches pop. Wearing this hat you may feel like a goddess yourself - showing off your creation to the world while also feeling warm and secure.
