About Us
Some stories take years to reach the page. Some take longer to reach the right hands.
Roanoke & Kin is an independent publishing imprint built on the belief that Black stories, told fully and honestly, belong in the world. Named for the roots on both sides of our founder’s family, we publish books that feel like memory. Like Sunday morning. Like the conversation you needed to have but never knew how to start. This is where those books live.
Our Mission
Roanoke & Kin is rooted in Black Southern tradition and the fullness of everyday Black life. We tell stories of joy, humor, memory, and belonging. Stories that feel like cocoa butter and Sunday supper and somebody who knows your name. We publish so that Black readers feel seen, held, and at home on every page.
