Living in a quantum universe
Title: Living in a quantum universe
Author: Ding Jia
Abstract: What is the present state of the universe? Does it vary from individual to individual? How is it related to the past and the future? These questions take on a sharper form when observers are treated as physical systems within a quantum dynamical universe. I examine some previous proposals by Hartle, Gell-Mann, Hawking, Hertog, Page, Srednicki, Aguirre, Tegmark and Nomura, which are all plagued by ambiguities. I then show that the problems can be removed if the present observation of an observer supervenes only on its physical body configuration and defies quantum reduction everywhere else in (quantum) spacetime.
