In December 2010, Charlie received a request from an unfamiliar UK publisher to travel to Libya to produce a book on the country. With little information and barely any information on the commission, he spent four weeks in Libya, from mid-January to mid-February. Accompanied by guards throughout, he photographed in every part of the North African country, documenting ancient and modern life, and the remnants of the colourful and diverse history Libya has seen.

Charlie left on 14 February - on the last day (unbeknownst to him) before the Green Revolution started.

The book never materialised. But, for the first time, more than one hundred photographs Charlie made can now be seen in this downloadable monograph.
