Eine Träne (A Tear) - M. Moussorgsky | Sheet Music for Oboe and Piano
I am sharing my adaptation of "Eine Träne" (A Tear), a brief but deeply emotional and intimate musical miniature by the Russian composer Modest Moussorgsky, specially arranged for an Oboe and Piano duo.
In this version, the oboe takes the leading role, carrying the beautiful melodic line under the legato e cantabile marking. This fully showcases the instrument's natural sweetness and melancholic color. The piano provides a rich and subtle harmonic cushion; its arpeggiated accompaniment requires careful pedaling and delicate dynamic control, sensitively navigating from a soft piano (p) to a fading pianississimo (ppp) at the close of the piece.
Sheet Music Details:
- Original Composer: Modest Moussorgsky.
- Adaptation: Marcos Molina.
- Instrumentation: Oboe and Piano. (The download includes a high-quality file featuring the full score and the individual oboe part).
- Dynamics and Tempo: The piece begins with a Largo introduction, flows organically into an Andante con moto, gains a slight momentum in the Poco più animato section, and concludes with an expressive ritardando that returns us to the final Largo.
- Difficulty Level: Intermediate.
What occasions is it ideal for? It is a fantastic piece for working on phrasing, intonation, and breath control on the oboe, as well as the sound balance and connection between both performers. It makes an excellent addition to chamber music recitals, conservatory auditions, solemn events, or simply for the profound joy of ensemble playing.
