Warning: while this pattern contains no actual swear words, it has cheeky references to them! No pearl (purl?) clutching necessary—Keep scrolling because this is:

A Very Schitty Knit.

The hat features an easy-to-work Dip Stitch (hence, the name) where you only work with one strand of yarn for any given round. It’s Moira-Approved, and even David Rose has nothing snarky to say about it (because “This…is correct!”).

Knit it for yourself or for your favorite Schitt-Head.

Sizes xs(sm, med, lg) measure 16(19 ¼ , 22 ½ , 25 ½)” in circumference at the pattern gauge. For measurements at alternate gauges, see the chart in the photo (which is also in the pattern).

Depth of hat with the short (unfolded) ribbing is approx 6 ¾ (7 ¾ , 8 ¾ , 9 ¾ )” from CO to top of crown.

Gauge: 20 sts & 35 rows/4” (after blocking) in the dip stitch pattern on a size 6 needle (or size to achieve gauge).

Materials:

1 skein of Hudson & West Forge (235 yds/100 g) in the Main color (shown on p. 1 in Mustard), and 1 skein Spincycle Dream State in the Contrasting Color (CC, shown in Purse First), or

approximately 70(75, 85, 100) yds of the MC and 50(60, 70, 80) yds of the CC in worsted weight yarn (Such as Malabrigo Rios. Colors used were Teal Feather for the MC, Piedras for the CC)
