TONEX: Grey Chorus 1 (Tone Circuit)
FREE TONEX PACK - V2 Captures
Based on the tone circuit of an Arion SCH-1 (Grey Box)
The Arion SCH-1 (Grey Box version) is often revered as one of the finest sounding chorus pedals of all time, and I agree! Now, we all know that TONEX isn't capable of capturing time based effects (yet!), but what it can do is capture the beautiful, unique tone circuit included in the original SCH-1.
I was trying to work out how I could make the included chorus sound in TONEX sound a little more like my favourite grey plastic box and I suddenly thought, hmmm, maybe I can capture the tone circuit. Well, with a little trial and error I managed to capture four distinctly different tones from the SCH-1.
It's probably (almost certainly) overkill to dedicate a whole TONEX pedal to this in a live context, but in the studio? Hey, the sky's the limit right?
- Darker - T0
- Dark - T3
- Bright - T7
- Brighter - T10
How to use:
Well, you could use this anywhere in the chain as a subtle toner shaper, but to try and capture the magic of the SCH-1 I've been using it as follow...
TONEX Instance 1:
Compressor > GCH-1 > Chorus
TONEX Instance 2:
Amp of your choice > Delay > Reverb
Legend:
T=Tone
