These patches are designed for the D-50/D-550 by me in 1994. I used them on stage and also for some demos at home. In those days I sometimes worked for days on one sound. They evolved at the concerts. I was never satisfied about the sound. Those are the reasons why they sound so rich. The D-50 is and was a wonderful machine. Even now when I played a concert with my Roland XP80, I come home and this dinosaur still amazes me. It has a rich and warm sound.

REVIEWS

The patches by Sven Godijn are by far the best I've heard for the D-50. They mostly use the 'analog' parameters, not the samples. And they're great starting point to make your own sounds, all those parameters can be a bit overwhelming if you start a sound from scratch.

How to upload SYX files to synthesizer via MIDI or USB

Here is how you have to set your D-50:

1°/ Menu "TUNE/FUNCTION": set "Protect" to "Off"

2°/ Menu "MIDI-3": set "Exclu" to "On"

And now, let's go for a soundbank transfer to your D-50:

1°/ Run your sysex transfers program on your computer and load or open (depending on the program you are using) the sysex file you want to transfer

2°/ While holding "DATA TRANSFER" button on your D-50/D-550, choose "B.Load" ("SPLIT POINT" button)

3°/ Confirm with "ENTER" button on your D-50/D-550

4°/ Choose "Sysex send" (or the appropriate option) on your sysex transfers program

5°/ You must now see "Loading..." on your D-50/D-550 display. If it shows after a few seconds "Complete", the bank has been successfully loaded into your synth

KEEP IN MIND THAT SENDING A SYSEX SOUNDBANK TO YOUR SYNTH WILL ERASE ALL DATAS STORED IN YOUR D-50/D-550 INTERNAL MEMORY

You will get a ZIP (14KB) file
