Is there anything more romantic than Depth Perception!  When falling in love it is the depth of your sweetheart that pulls you in and intrigues you to learn more.  In a knitting analogy that translates to taking the slipped stitch cables of our 2022 theme to new dimensions!  Depth Perception capelet introduces the technique to flat knitting with 2 stitch slipped cables growing up to 5 stitch slipped cables worked on the right side.  Find your favorite spot to deepen your relationship as you knit, then wear.

The tech edited and test knit “adventurous-level” pattern is fully written and charted with a schematic, cheat sheet (on the blog), and pick up video tutorial.

Special Notes:
  • Cable It: check out the Knit Eco Chic blog series “Guide to Slipped Stitch Cables” and the “Cheat Sheet” for a quick start guide for the multi-stitch cables.
  • Track It: since this garter slipped stitch design is worked flat, the color changes and numbering are similar to that of brioche.  Each Row number is worked twice: once with MC and once with CC.  So that’s two consecutive right side rows followed by two wrong side rows.  A circular needle is used to enable moving to the end to pick up the appropriate color where it was left off.
  • Stitch It: cabling only happens on the right side rows.  Wrong side rows are resting rows - stitches are either knit or slipped on MC rows and either knit, purled, or slipped on CC rows.
  • Watch It: Stitch in Focus - Pick Up and Knit from an I-cord (on the Knit Eco Chic blog) multiple styles are shown, the double leg pick up starts at 2:25.
