Oil Men move with a Phone call anywhere around the World just pack their Offshore kit bag to go wherever and whatever Country good or Bad they Go sadly whatever they leave behind waits or has a bloody good time.

Most Family men who survive the Big D in the 28/28 traits of working Offshore Divorce is a common occurrence and I think Oil men get free Lawyers' advice Bureau offshore as most crews have one or two Toolpushers PhDs in saving Money from Two Timing spouses

I had to face mine I had just left Japan in December 1976 Shipyard when the London office then called the Offshore Company Ltd I was to Join the Discoverer Seven Seas she had just Spudded in her very first trial well off the coast of Abidjan crew change would be from Las Palmas on the Canary Isles Spain those days it was Two weeks on One week off  Private Charter Crew Jet from Base Airport to Nearest International Main Location Job site. Abidjan had a Decent Airport those days. a Two-tier large concourse Building Beer Bar  Lounge was on the Upper departure Floor.

Luck was on My side when I arrived at Las Palmas there was a Delay of Three days due to Skirmish of Rebels I was put up at Beach Front Four star Hotel and Found out that most Crew watering holes to Drink were The Black Gold where Good Food and Tapas Ice Cold Beers at decent prices this friendly Place would become a regular haunt. over the next years efforts near the Beach and English-speaking Three Amigos Amillio Serillio Antonio Complete with the Hangman's Noose and a Dart Board it became a family Favorite a place you could get in touch with anyone  Leaving a Note behind the Offshore Bar Stickers still there Today I was told.

I was Lucky to Find a Very Nice apartment on the Solvista Block's eighth floor with fantastic Views and Nicely Furnished overlooking the Sea and over to the Las Palmas Football Ground Corner Unit had a Great View, Days The Ice Rink and Supermarket just across the main Street was called Escaleritas.
