Fantasy Tale: Called and Set Apart

A young boy living in an old world is relating a story he was told by the Wise Man of his World when he is caught up in the reality of it.  He is led through tasks and challenges to close the era of his time, but with a greater task ahead, the Will of a God.  Standing in his way is the Darkness that covers his world and Death. Will he be the one to fulfill these tasks or will it be handed back to the League of Wise men and the Aurae? And what is this strange Stone he finds?

Perhaps more suited to a young or teen reader.  Lord of The Rings genre.
