The Weighing of the Heart by Patrick M. Parronchi
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to
you. — Matthew 6.33.
And a segue to that:
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered
them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here!
or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. — Luke 17.20-21
In Gospel of Matthew 6:33, the line about “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”
appears in a section about priorities—placing inner alignment with the divine order before worry
about material needs.
But where is this kingdom of God was then what everybody wanted to know, especially those
Pharisees, and “Jesus” didn’t speculate on that:
In Gospel of Luke 17:20–21, when asked about the coming of the Kingdom, “Jesus” Christ
replies that it does not come as something observable “here” or “there,” because “the kingdom of
God is within you.”
…And it is in that kingdom that we are headed next. So take out your notepad and brace yourself!
