This book began in 2009. I was on the management and training team of a national sales and marketing organization that recruited financial services sales reps. Knowing that many of the new people had experienced financial challenges as the result of the failing economy in 2008, I wrote articles in my newsletter that would build them up and assist in the development of a change in mindset. I wanted to replace negative thinking with positive input.

What you read in this book is, in part, some of the ideas I shared with our sales and management staff – a philosophy that I have espoused for the last 40 years. You will find some repetition in this book. That happens for a reason. Some important points need to be repeated in different settings, and a slight change in verbiage, in order for the lessons to be learned by the largest number of people.

You may also note that there is a lack of bundling similar thoughts into sections. I did that because I want to surprise you. I want you to eagerly turn the pages to see what nugget you find next – as though you are on a treasure hunt. The nature of this book lends itself to that approach.

My goal is to motivate you toward greater success regardless of where you are right now, or where you want to go tomorrow. I have done my best to keep the strategies simple and straight forward. I’ve shared personal information about how I have dealt with success, failure, hurts, and more. These true stories are to illustrate that I have faced my own challenges and moved forward. I’m not a person who simply writes about a life changing philosophy. I live it, and have for five decades.

There are lots of good motivational speakers and writers, and I encourage you to read and listen to what they have to say. Becoming the person you are meant to be is a process and each of us have something to add to help make your life more full. When you are finished with this book, I hope you have the tools you need to:

1. Replace a negative mindset with a positive one,

2. Look forward rather than focus on the past,

3. Discover your purpose for living,

4. Succeed in your personal, business, family and spiritual life,

5. Find abundant living,

6. Find peace.

All of these are achievable goals. Do you think you can enjoy the above? If you think you can, you’re right. If you think you can’t, you are also right.

It’s really up to you.
