Heart of the Mountain
The bison has always been the beating heart of Yellowstone--and here, that idea becomes literal. Within its silhouette live the whole of the ecosystem it calls home: the jagged peaks of the Tetons rising through its back, a geyser venting stem where its ribs would be, dense pine forest woven into its fur, and a hawk cutting across the sky above. This piece captures what it feels like to stand in that landscape--that the bison isn't just in the wilderness, but carries it within.
