In it, I walk through the five real reasons your applications are being ghosted. Most of them have nothing to do with your skills and everything to do with how the market is reading you on paper.
We covered the reasons why most CV tailoring is done shabbily and why you should, as a matter of urgency, steer clear of tailoring as a whole, because people don't give themselves the time to do it properly, and what that actually costs you in terms of exposure to unwanted scrutiny by reruiters (including the real-life experience narrated by John, who lost a £65k job as a result of it).
The hidden recruiters' bias triggers that can knock a well-tailored CV out of contention before a human even sees your value on a CV, also came up. Also discussed was why not connecting with the person who posted the job on LinkedIn is quietly working against you, when accepting connections is often part of a recruiter's own targets.
This session also covered the habit almost nobody has, writing back to a recruiter straight after applying, and why that small thing changes how you're remembered. And we covered something most people never think about at all, which is how much later than everyone else they're actually applying in a market where the number of applications per role has multiplied several times over since 2021.
I also showed the room, live, how I use AI to semantically match a client's CV against real open roles rather than guessing which ones are worth their time. One of my clients used this exact approach and went from silence to five interviews in a single week.
