Syllable Surf

Syllable Surf is a multiplayer reading and writing game for grades 3–5. Claim squares by splitting words into syllables, spotting syllable types, building contractions and abbreviations, using spelling rules and reading with expression. Get 4 in a row to win.

Skills: Counting and dividing syllables in 2- to 6-syllable words, open and closed syllables, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams, diphthongs, silent-e and consonant-le syllables, contractions and their two words, abbreviations (Mr., Ave., ft., approx., etc.), doubling consonants, dropping silent e, changing y to i, silent letters, hard and soft c and g, reading punctuation, ellipses, stressed words, phrasing, character voices and reading rate.

New problems every game, with Easy, Medium and Hard levels. Every miss shows a short explanation.
