5th Grade Art Projects Elements of Art 5th Grade Art Lessons Space Activities Worksheets
This Grade 5 Elements of Art Complete Art Lesson Unit is a no-prep, fully planned art unit that teaches the 7 Elements of Art through the theme of Outer Space. It is written for classroom teachers, new and experienced art teachers, and homeschool families looking for a complete art guide by grade level, whatever their own art background.
Students start with a unit introduction video and printable activities, then create one space-themed artwork for each element with step-by-step tutorials, and explore further with open-ended choice-based art lessons. The unit ends with a viewing art activity and a choice-based final project.

HOW TO USE IT
Review the unit plan for the teaching sequence and start with the introductory lessons and video. Print a master copy and organize it in a binder (the binder cover can go on the front or as a section title page), then photocopy student pages as needed. Each lesson plan tells you how to teach it, from the hook and participation strategies to the steps and conclusion.
Use the choice-based lessons before a tutorial so students can practice and play, or after it to reinforce concepts and let students investigate their own ideas. In the viewing art activity, students identify the Elements of Art in an artwork from art history, listen to a poem and a reading about art galleries and museums, learn how to interpret art, and define the role of a curator. In the end of unit project, the class sets student-led criteria and each student creates an Outer Space artwork that uses two Elements of Art.
