A smooth solid or semi-tonal lace yarn works best for this project. You can either match the beads to your yarn or use contrast beads for striking pops of colour.

- 656yd / 600m, 3.5 oz / 100g, lace yarn such as Under the Olive Tree 80% extra fine merino / 20% silk (1 skein)
- US size 4 (3.5mm) 31.5-39" (80-100cm) circular needle
- 696 x size 8 (3mm) beads, either threaded onto yarn before casting on or added using an 0.5mm crochet hook as you go along
- A stitch marker for marking the centre stitch (optional)
