This hat and fingerless mitts set was originally created to showcase the fabulous Sweater Weather DK yarn by Cat and Sparrow. The colourway was inspired by Starling’s wings - hence the name.
With the pattern as written you can get a hat and a short pair of fingerless mitts from one plump 100g skein of Sweater Weather DK (240m/262yds)
Both the hat and the mitts use a stretchy rib pattern that is easy to memorise and knits up quickly - ideal for last minute gifts.
Needle: 3.5mm
Gauge: 22 sts in 4” (stocking stitch)
Mitts: finished circumference 20cm (7.9") Hat: finished circumference 50cm (19.7")
Please note: this stitch pattern is extremely stretchy and can accommodate a range of sizes. Mitts - from 7" to 9.5" Hat - Up to 22"
To size up further, additional 4st repeats can be added, although this might mean you need a 2nd skein of yarn.
