Brave & Kind: Printable Affirmation Cards for Every Kid

Every child can be brave and kind, strong and gentle, confident and caring.

Brave & Kind is a set of 48 affirmation cards for every kid (about ages 3 to 9). Each card pairs a short affirmation with a little "Try it," so kids practice what the words mean: inviting someone to play, naming a feeling, saying a calm "no," or standing next to a friend who's being picked on.

WHY "TRY IT"? Words shape how children see themselves, and practice turns words into habits. Researchers found that young children helped more when they were invited to "be a helper" instead of just asked to help, so many cards use "I am" words. Developmental psychologists also found that kids who rehearsed what to say out loud were far more likely to speak up when they heard something unfair.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Print on cardstock. Print double-sided (flip on the long edge) for the woodland backs, or just the fronts.
2. Cut along the lines.
3. Pick a card at breakfast or bedtime, say it together, then do the Try it.
