Seven calculators for pricing snow plowing from your own truck, plow, fuel and insurance costs, not from anyone's rate sheet. Start with sheet 1: it spreads the plow over the seasons you expect it to last and turns your costs into an hourly price ($110.31 in the worked example). Sheet 3 finds the number of snow events where a seasonal contract equals per-push billing (10.9 in the example), and sheet 7 runs the whole season through a light, an average and a heavy winter. Every figure is an example for you to overwrite. These are estimates, not tax, legal or insurance advice. Every formula was recalculated and checked against an independent implementation before this shipped.

What is in it

7 calculators, one per sheet. Overwrite the blue cells with your own numbers and everything else follows. Nothing is locked, there are no macros, and it opens in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.

  • Hourly truck cost and price: What does an hour of plowing cost you, and what must it bill?
  • Per-push driveway price: What should one push on a residential driveway cost?
  • Seasonal contract vs per-push: At what count of snow events does seasonal equal per-push?
  • Commercial lot by area: What should a commercial lot cost per push, by its area?
  • Salting and de-icing: What should one salt application cost, materials and time?
  • Route capacity per storm: Can your route be cleared in the window customers expect?
  • Season profit by winter: What does the season earn in a light, average or heavy winter?

Every formula was checked

This pack contains 61 formulas. Before it was published, every one of them was recalculated by a spreadsheet engine and compared against an independent implementation of the same arithmetic written in Python. All 61 agreed to within a cent, and the workbook carries a Verification sheet saying so.

That is an unusual thing to be able to claim about a spreadsheet, and it is the main reason to buy this one rather than download a free template. A formula that looks right and is wrong is worse than no formula at all, because you will act on it.

What each calculator assumes

There is a sheet listing this, because a calculator that hides its assumptions is just a number generator:

  • Fixed costs are spread evenly over the hours you enter. The plow loses its value evenly over the seasons you expect it to last, with nothing left at the end. Margin is a share of price, not a markup on cost.
  • Drive time between jobs is billed at the same hourly price as time on site. Extra time for deep snow grows evenly with each inch above your base depth.
  • Every event takes one push at the same cost. A contract with a cap on events, or an extra charge above a depth, is not modeled: enter the price that applies to the winter you are testing. Fixed truck costs are on sheets 1 and 7, not here.
  • Plowing speed is the same across the whole lot; tight corners, islands and stacking piles slow it, so time a lot like the one you are pricing. Salting is priced separately on sheet 5.
  • The application rate is yours, from the product label or a calibration of your own spreader; this pack does not state one. Leftover material in an opened bag carries to the next job, so per-application cost uses the exact bags, not whole bags.
  • Every driveway takes the same minutes and the trucks share the work evenly. A storm that needs a second pass doubles the hours; enter it as a longer route, not a longer window.
  • Each event means one push for every customer and lot. Your own labor is inside the cost per push, so profit is what is left after paying yourself. Event counts are yours, from your own past seasons; no snowfall figure is stated here.

What this is not

Not financial, tax or legal advice, and not a recommendation to buy, sell, borrow or sign anything. These are calculators: they show what a choice costs, not which choice is right for you. Where a published rate or threshold is used it is the one current when the pack was built. Those change, the arithmetic does not.

Honest about the format

One .xlsx workbook, 7 calculator sheets plus Start Here, Assumptions and Verification. Not a PDF, not a physical product, not a Notion template. Available immediately after purchase; nothing ships.
