The Deer and the Elephant

Once upon a time, an elephant was walking through the forest when he came across a wise deer playing alone. The elephant asked, "Hey, how are you doing today? Do you know where I can find the beautiful tree with tasty fruits and leaves? Someone told me it’s around here."

The deer replied, "Yes, I know where it is. But before I show you, I want a share of whatever youbring down from the tree."

The elephant agreed, and the deer led him to the tree. It was indeed full of beautiful, tasty fruitsand leaves. The elephant used his trunk to cut some branches and began eating greedily. When the deer approached for her share, the elephant said, "Would you mind waiting, please? You’ll eat after I finish. Have some patience, dear deer!"

The elephant was so hungry that he finished all the leaves and fruits on the branches. The deer protested, "What do you think you’re doing? You’ve eaten it all!"

The elephant responded, "Relax, I’ll cut another branch. This time, I’ll leave some for you. But you’ll have to wait until I finish."

Reluctantly, the deer agreed and waited. Yet again, the elephant ate everything, leaving nothing for the deer. When he tried to lift his trunk for more, he realized he was too full to move properly. Exhausted, he lay down and said, "Hey, I’ll get up and cut another branch for you. But first, keep an eye on me while I take a nap."

The deer, disappointed but calm, replied, "Sure, sleep well. I’ll watch over you." As soon as the elephant fell asleep, the deer brought a rope. She tied one of the elephant’s back legs tightly to the tree.

When the elephant woke up, he panicked. The deer was nowhere to be seen, and his leg was tied to the tree. Terrified of lions or other predators, he called out in a low voice, "Deer! Deer! Where are you?" The deer appeared and said, "Oh, I’m so sorry! Who did this to you? I left for just a moment to look for food, and now you’re trapped!"

"Never mind that!" the elephant replied. "Just untie me quickly. Lions or other animals might

come to kill me. Hurry, please!"....
