Check whether your dimension strings add up to the overall dimension directly inside AutoCAD.

This AutoLISP and DCL tool totals selected linear or aligned dimensions, compares them with a separate overall dimension, and shows the difference.

Command: DIMTOTAL

Gap repair: For eligible parallel dimensions on one WCS XY plane, confirm the repair and choose the dimension-line placement. New gap dimensions use the overall dimension’s named style and your current layer. Existing dimensions remain intact.

Important: Results use geometry; text overrides and DIMLFAC are excluded. Overlaps, conflicting directions, and text overrides require review. Verify new dimension locations and displayed values.

Requires Windows AutoCAD with Visual LISP/ActiveX. Designed around AutoCAD 2002-compatible APIs; live compatibility testing is still needed. Test on a drawing copy before production use.
