I created Artemis to be playful yet practicable, flattering yet comfortable and adaptable to changing bodies. In Greek mythology, Artemis is a bold adventurer and I wanted anyone wearing this to feel exactly like that.

Variations:

The Artemis jumpsuit has several variations in one design, depending on how you tie it. Secure it by tying the short waist ties at the front for a relaxed, casual feel, or cut long ties and feed them through the hidden channel to tie at the back or side for a more fitted look. This project is best suited to intermediate sewists as it involves sewing a zipper and making a buttonhole. You can use different types of zips: For an elegant touch, sew an invisible zip, or for a “utility” look, use a heavier zip and secure the ties with a D-ring. When you wear the wrap version, thread the left long waist tie through the buttonhole in the right front piece and the opening in the side seam. Adjust the ties around your waist and tie them in your preferred style.

Fabric Recommendations:

Artemis can be made in a wide range of woven fabrics. Choose a heavier weight woven fabric such as denim, drill, corduroy, or twill for a more structured look. Alternatively, choose a light or medium- weight woven fabric such as hemp, linen, cotton, or chambray for a softer and more casual look and maximum comfort.

Fabric Requirements:

For sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

Jumpsuit fabric for the long tie version: width 55"/140 cm, length 103.2 (106.3, 112.3, 118.9, 143.4) (147.7, 150, 152, 153.2)" / 262 (270, 285, 302, 364) (375, 381, 386, 389) cm

Jumpsuit fabric for the short tie version: width 55"/140 cm, length 100.8 (104, 109.9, 116.6, 141.4) (145.3, 146.9, 148.9,

150.4)" / 256 (264, 279, 296, 359) (369, 373, 378, 382) cm

Interfacing:

If you’re using a lighter weight fabric, you may wish to interface the centre front edges of the bodice and front trousers pattern pieces prior to attaching the zip. Do this by cutting two 0.6"/1.5 cm x 20"/50 cm strips of interfacing and fusing them to the wrong side of the fabric.

Note: If you’re using a heavier fabric, I recommend using a light or medium- weight fabric for the binding.

Accessories:

Zip, for sizes 1–7: 15.8"/40 cm, size 8: 17.1"/45 cm, size 9: 19.7"/50 cm

If using an invisible zip: machine foot for invisible zips

For all zips: zipper foot
