Pip and his fellow Birds have forgotten how to fly because the Sky is too hot and they're afraid they'll melt. That's because the Beasts grow their twisted horns so long, they rip open the silk like Sky. When Pip helps Baby Beast, Mama Beast helps the Birds to weave repairs in the Sky.

Based on the symbiotic relationship between White Headed Buffalo Weavers and Buffaloes who roam the vast plains threatened by climate change.
