Finding the Names — Installment 80 (Roll 10, 1844–1845) — FREE
Installment 80 of Finding the Names continues Roll 10 — New Orleans Inward Manifests, 1844–1845 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 10, NAID 173900399), images 241–360: 871 people on 60 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records at the National Archives. The project now stands at 51,788 entries.
Inside: Christmas week on the river — the barque Phoenix's two December consignments were both examined at New Orleans on Christmas Day, and the brig Orleans was mustered at the Balize on Christmas Eve, "all in good health." One Orleans table is photographed across two images and counted once, five of its names reading differently between the photographs. The brig Josephine makes one voyage in four filings; her captain reported two infants born on the passage and one died, none of them named. The barque Parthian sails 136 people — her first 21 entries one Wood family, entry No. 40's name blotted out in ink, "White" written against Louisa Stambach and her daughter, and Sylphia Fresh Water at No. 135. The brig Dimon's six filings count people who were "left behind." At image 295 the film itself turns the year: "Inward Slave Manifests 1845."
This download contains the full book (PDF, 233 pages, large print) AND the complete name list for this installment as a spreadsheet (CSV) — every name as written, with ship, date, age, height, and the manifest image number, so any entry can be checked against the original scan.

Every name is transcribed by hand from the National Archives' own scans of the original manifests. Where a manifest and its certificate disagree, we print both. Nothing is guessed, and nobody is left out.
