Preface — Why This Book Exists 

This book exists for every person who has ever looked at their life and felt like the odds were stacked against them. For every parent working multiple jobs, every teacher stretching a paycheck, every coach grinding long hours, every dreamer staring at a bank account that didn’t match their ambition — this is for you. 

I didn’t come from wealth. I didn’t have a mentor on Wall Street. I didn’t have a financial blueprint handed to me. I had a full-time teaching job, a growing family, and a desire to build something more — something that could change our lives. What I did have was belief, discipline, and the willingness to learn through failure. 

The Underdog Trader is the story of starting from almost nothing. It’s about opening a stock trading account with a hundred dollars and refusing to let circumstance define my ceiling. It’s about twelve years in the trenches of the OTC — studying, failing, adapting, and eventually breaking through. It’s about the quiet struggle no one sees and the resilience required to keep going when most would quit. 

But more than that, this book exists because I know there are millions of people just like me — people who feel unseen, underestimated, and overlooked in a world that favors those born ahead. People who want a chance to win but don’t know where to start. People who dream big but don’t have a blueprint. 

I wrote this book to show that financial breakthroughs don’t just happen for the privileged or the connected. They can happen for the determined. For the disciplined. For the intentional. For the ones who keep showing up — even when no one is watching.
